Andy and I had a great Thanksgiving holiday. I spent the morning making my contributions to Thanksgiving lunch (baked macaroni and cheese, sweet potato casserole and dirt cake - all recipes compliments of Sue, Andy's mom). We had lunch at my parents' house along with about 30 other people! Dad got Rosie, my sister's horse out of the barn for the little kids to ride. Well, a few of the big kids ended up riding too!
For dinner, we headed over to Mebane to be with Andy's family for some pizza! We figured everyone had enough turkey already. Andy's siblings and their spouses were there along with Claire, of course. She kept us entertained taking care of "Chubs" - her baby doll that is very real to her.
On Friday Sara and I did our annual trip to Southpoint Mall in Durham. It was pretty crowded but we managed to get out unscathed and only purchasing one thing each! I was pretty proud.
Saturday I went back (glutton for punishment, I know) with my mom and sister. I don't think I bought anything that time but it was fun to be with the girls.
I spent part of the evening putting up our Christmas decorations. The jury is still out as to whether or not a tree with ornaments would make it past Mae Belle. Or whether or not Mae Belle would make it past the tree with ornaments (without thinking it was a huge chew toy placed there for her enjoyment only). So, I tested the waters and hung our stockings at the fireplace. She hasn't noticed them yet so time will tell.
I have so much to be thankful for and appreciate Thanksgiving - it's basically Christmas without the stress of all the parties, gag gifts, perfect gifts, bad gifts, re-gifts! Just time well-spent with family and lots of good food! What could be better?
