San Francisco

We went to San Francisco last October for our anniversary.

Some of our trips

I thought I would post a few photos from some of our trips since we have been married. Our next big one is Hawaii next month! We went there for our honeymoon so I am excited to go back! More to come on that one!

As promised, here are a few photos. Just of the "Mae Dog"! This was her right after we got her (8 weeks old), then a couple months later, then at the beach recently. She had just had surgery so couldn't play in the sand. We'll get here there again soon! I know she would just love it!

OK, so it's been a few days since I started the blog and I haven't done very well at staying on top of it! But that's ok. You'll get a nice update!
Andy and I went with my parents to Topsail Island this weekend. It's a small, quiet island off of I-40 that's only about 3 hours away. There's no McDonald's there if that gives you any idea of how small it is! We just hung out, checked out the local restaurants (Max's has some great pizza according to my husband), and took a boat cruise on "The Belle of Topsail". It's a fun little boat ran by the captain and his wife. It was nice to pay for some touristy activity and feel like it was worth your money and that you didn't get ripped off. We were out at sunset and it was so beautiful!
Monday came too quickly and Wednesday is now almost over! I have had a busy real estate week and am hoping to get an accepted offer on a listing of mine before the week is over!
Andy has been busy at work as well and seems to be pleased with the way things are going. It's so neat to see how the Lord places certain people/organizations in his life.
We got to have a nice "mid-week date" (as we like to call it) last night. He took me to the Village Grille, a local favorite. Looks like we'll finally be around this weekend and I am so looking forward to it!
The latest news is that we are getting work done on the kitchen at Andy's office. We have been able to find a couple of skillful retired men that have the time to do things we just can't get to! We put in new countertops there and one of these guys is painting the cabinets, putting on new hardware, tearing down the nice brown paneling, and painting! It's an old building that could be really cool with some tlc so that's what we are attempting.
I didn't get to walk Mae Belle this morning so by dinner she was just awful! I decided to take her to the dog park to get some of her energy out. A very pregnant lady came in with her dog and Mae Belle jumped on her right away, getting her white pants muddy (why you wear white pants to the dog park, I don't know)! Then the lady sat down on the bench and Mae Belle jumped on the bench as was climbing all over her! I felt like I had a glimpse of what it must be like when your child is acting out in public and won't listen to you. It's so embarrassing! I think she is good practice in many ways.
That's is for now! Not much exciting going on. I'll try to figure out how to post some photos soon. I know that's alot more interesting!

First Day Blogger!

Ok, ok. I finally did it. With all of the "peer pressure" of my friends to "join facebook" or "start a blog" I finally buckled! I can't promise how dedicated or focused I will be with this thing, but it's worth a shot, I suppose. Andy and I have a lot going on and it will be nice to share our lives.

Just a quick update if you haven't heard from us in awhile (or ever), we both grew up in NC, not too many miles apart but didn't meet until after college. My faithful brother-in-law, Bart introduced us many years ago with hopes of attaining a soccer buddy in the family. We don't like to give him much credit since we didn't start dating until years later. But, we'll give credit where credit is due - he introduced us (and got his wish).

I moved home from UNC Wilmington, our first date was January 22, 2005 and our wedding date was October 14, 2005! As my dad would say, "It doesn't take long if you know what you're doin'!" Well, maybe we didn't know what we were doing but 3 years later we're glad we did it!

Andy is the business owner (I guess that makes me one too!) of a small Marketing-PR firm here in Burlington. He has been growing North Star Marketing-Communications, Inc. for almost 10 years now! Quite an accomplishment, I think! Considering it started in his folks' basement, he's come a long way and I am so proud of him! He has more creativity and smarts than I could ever hope to have!

I graduated with a degree in Elementary Ed, a minor in Spanish, and somehow managed to get into the real estate world - go figure! I am a broker with RE/MAX Diamond Realty in Mebane and have been with them for 5 years as of this month! They are a great bunch of people and are like my second family. I also keep the books for Andy's business.

No kids yet...just the world's cutest puppy! Mae Belle is our 7 month old blonde retriever puppy that keeps us busy, makes us laugh, and drives us nuts! She's a handful but we love her to death! Just to give you an idea, today she ate a pencil (still waiting to see how that works out), a $25 coupon to the Loft (my favorite store) that I have been hanging on to, a coupon to Pets'Mart for grooming (which she desperately needs) and our Chick-fil-a calender with very valuable coupons. Not only are pets expensive, but she doesn't allow us to save money either! I wonder if she knew what she was doing?

Other things that occupy our time are our wonderful church family at First Baptist Church of Durham, our 1950's house that we are "slightly remodeling", time with our family when we can (2 cute nephews and 1 adorable niece are the most note-worthy) and travel, travel, travel! We just got back from Florida where we got to sneak in a trip to Disney and Universal Studios. We've both been before, just not together so that was nice.

Well, no need to spill all in one go...gotta keep it interesting, right?
