My hubby did a great job this Valentine's so I have to brag a bit. We celebrated on Friday (the 13th, I know!) but it was anything but scary!
He had gotten me a gift certificate to a spa for my birthday so I decided to use it on Friday since we were going out that night (he did ask me if that counted for his Valentine's gift!). So, that day I went to get a half hour massage (which turned into an hour massage because the girl didn't know it was only supposed to me 30 minutes - talk about being on the good end of a mistake!), a pedicure and a manicure. I was there for 3 hours and it was so relaxing!!! When I came home to get ready for our date there were 3 red roses, a ring I had picked out at BJ's (a local jewelry shop) and a sweet card! I was not expecting anything so it was a nice surprise. We went to the Cheesecake Factory at Southpoint for an early dinner to avoid the crowds and then fell asleep on the couch watching the Cosby Show! That's "re-become" a favorite pastime of ours!
We got to celebrate my cousin Kevin's 40th birthday on Saturday with my family. Kevin is the best classical guitarist ever and the most humble about his talents. He played at our wedding and I still don't think we understand how much of a treat that was. He is incredibly gifted and one of the few musicians who is able to make a living at what he does. Kevin is giving my 9 year old nephew guitar lessons. Vince's favorite song to play is "Wipe Out". He also played "Happy Birthday" for Kevin on Saturday.
That evening we had a WONDERFUL dinner at our friends, the Shepard's house. They are quite the chefs and helped to kick off our first Supper Club. There are eight of us that will be getting together about once a month for food and fellowship. We had the best time eating and laughing. I told Andy I hadn't laughed that hard in a long time! We look forward to the next one at Nathan and Kim's.
This week Andy and I are headed to Florida. He has a Christian School Conference in Cocoa Beach so I am going with him to help out at the booth. We are hopefully going to Epcot on Saturday. I remember that being my least favorite place as a child but I am hoping that I will be able to appreciate it more now!
On another cheesy note (only to be appreciated by dog-lovers), Mae Belle turned 1 yesterday! We didn't go so far as to throw her a birthday party. We didn't even buy her a present or give her special treatment - just a few Happy Birthday hugs. Happy Birthday Mae Belle!
