China day 2 {typhoon 3}

We just cannot believe we aren't struggling with the time change. Yet. We went to bed easily last night, woke up once around 4:00 am, then fell back asleep and were ready to start the day around 7:30 am.

First things first, a trip to Starbucks and a local bakery for my hubby.
Then a cab ride to Sky 100 (the tallest building in Hong Kong), which apparently has an awesome view.
But we wouldn't know firsthand. From all indications, a Typhoon 3 warning in HK is no joke. The first two items on our agenda (that and a harbor cruise) were deemed unsafe, therefore we had to go to plan B - a scenic bus-ride to Stanley Market.
This turned out to be a great way to see the water's edge, passing Repulse Bay and Stanley Beach. We also got to see some of the city's unique architecture.
Next, we did some shopping at Stanley Market...walking away with only a Hong Kong magnet and, thankfully, not the "Big Big Big Size" shirt.
Lunch was pizza - half pepperoni, half prosciutto and feta. Delicious! And then some more strolling around the area before heading back toward the Tsim Sha Tsiu area, where our hotel is.
We had to find the Bruce Lee statue, of course.
And then headed back to our hotel to wash off the day and head out for dinner. Sushi for Andy. Edamame and crackers for me :)

The weather was actually quite good for us, despite the typhoon warnings. I will say, if you think NC is muggy, you should feel the unbelievably thick stickiness of Hong Kong.

Tomorrow's a new day, hopefully crammed with the things we didn't get to do today.

Again, thanks for all the kind words via email, Facebook comments and messages. We're enjoying this time, trying to soak it all up. Monday's coming fast, and we couldn't be more excited!

She is the best, best, best! I'm so excited for you. Seeing your posts makes me miss China so much and the exciting moments that led up to our Gotcha Day, and then Gotcha Day and Forever Family Day. Ahhh!!! Soak it all in!! My best, Heather in Eastern Washington state

  5. I too happened upon your blog several weeks ago and have been following along. Soooooo happy for you and your husband...it is such an exciting time and I am reliving the anticipation we felt just days before meeting our little one for the first time! Write as much down as you can when you get home, the jet lag is far worse coming home, combined with the "baby brain" and you won't want to forget anything about those first few weeks with your new daughter in her new home! Congratulations!
